I started my fourth temp job with loads of introductions and hellos, which is typical.
What I didn't expect was that people would notice my pentacle which was happening quite a lot. People would ask, "You, Wiccan?" I would say I am not initiated or within any British Traditional Witchcraft, so no, I am not.
There was another Witch working for the bookstore. I hadn't got to meet her yet. Everyone kept saying she is a Wiccan, she is a Wiccan just like you (rolls eyes).
I finally got to meet her and no, she wasn't Wiccan but an Asatru Witch. We had the exact same thoughts on Wicca, which is you would have to be initiated to be Wiccan. I said that I was more Wiccan-influenced and we agreed on the term.
Then, yesterday, I got asked by a customer, I quote, "You, Wicca?" (She was deaf) and she pointed to my pentacle. Then she asked if I was white witch or black witch. Terms that I prefer not to use to describe any Pagan. Once she left I was left thinking does everyone not know? Does everyone who is outside the Pagan community just lump everyone together as Wiccans? Goddess I hope not. It seemed that everyone did, from my own experience.
