Why Witch?

One blog made me re-think my religious label and in turn made me write a post about why I call myself a Witch.

I have always considered myself a Witch ever since I started on this path. However, to other feminists this can be harsh or at least harsh sounding. Or even radical.

Personally I think 'Witch' is very powerful word. Like the word feminist, people have misconceptions and stereotypes attached to the word. There is always a different or new definition of a certain word, such as 'witch'.

Not only has 'Witch' been in my vocabulary for my whole life it has been reclaimed by Neopagans and atheists (some witches are atheists) alike. Witch in Neopaganism means Wise One or One who Bends. To quote Z. Budapest: Witch is the only word in the dictionary that gives women power.

I know the most popular definition of witch means 'one who is bent' which isn't very nice in comparison but it is part of this blog to clear out the misconceptions of both words, hard as that may be.
