You have heard of people calling our planet Mother Earth, right? Guess where that came from.
I said that the Gaia theory is one of many beliefs of Feminist Witches (not to mention an ecofeminist belief as well). Right now I'm not going to get into the founder or history but my personal beliefs surrounding this theory. Honestly I have no real concrete academic information of the Gaia Theory only from pagan books and by my own experience.
Gaia theory is the belief that the earth does have a consciousness or is like a consciousness. For me it does indeed have a consciousness. The theory is named after Gaia for a reason. This Greek beauty is the big round bountiful Goddess of the earth. The theory is that the earth is a self-relegating system something that is different than the Darwin's theory.
Darwin's theory proposes that animals, plants, and things continue to be fighting against each other; or always in survival mode. Organisms are tend to be observed as if they are pinned against each other instead of working within a integrated whole. I like to see the earth as a web each organism working together.
I don't want to romanticize earths' ways. I just think the Darwin theory is a little incomplete and I believe that the Gaia theory can bring a whole new outlook on nature and the earth.
