I made a new discussion on Paganspace.net and I got some very interesting responses. I must say that the word feminist is even more destroyed then I thought it was. I was asking if there were any other Witches like me because being a solitary is very lonely. Instead of getting responses from feminist pagans or the like (which I did after a while) I was asked what kind of feminist I was and was told that others who have the same label bash men for not having the real stuff for magic. This goes back to other posts about this, obviously I don't feel the same. I think it's bordering on irrationality to be sexist towards men for no reason other than being a man.
I couldn't help but see that people would rather label themselves 'a person who stands up for our rights' or 'people who want to get equality' or what have you. I can see that the majority of Pagans would rather not call themselves a feminist because they think that the word feminist is too limited which goes back to the feminists don't hate/bash men argument.
But what most people don't see is that feminists are standing up for all rights and it's not limiting to call yourself a feminist; it's empowering. Most people, especially Pagans, constantly label themselves. There are Hearth witches, Traditional witches, Druids, Solitary witches, Eclectic Wiccans, Trad Wiccans, Ceremonial Magicians, etc. These are a means of categorizing and displaying who you are.
I think that most Pagans shy away from feminism because they don't want to take on a new misunderstood label. Which is very sad because plenty adopted the word "witch" or "gay" or "queer" or "nature-lover" etc. Maybe there will be a time where the feminist label is not a negative mantel to place upon ourselves but until that time I will proudly wear it.
The discussion that has been by me created on paganspace.net opened my eyes to a whole new scope. In my earlier posts on the Feminist Craft path they were incomplete. This path should be progressing. In my opinion the Dianic Witchcraft Tradition is not the end all definitions of feminist witchery, it shouldn't be addressed as such. I think third wavers need a feminist witchcraft that has their ideals in mind. I can make that happen. It would just take a long time and a lot of work but I know it's possible. I am just one third wave Feminist Witch (I think I am the only one) with an awesome blog and that's good enough....for right now.
