Happy Litha

It's Summer Solstice today! It’s so beautiful here in Maine. Today is all about growth, rising up and reinventing the wheel. Well, it's like that every Holy Day, but this one is going to be different. I am celebrating the flame; the spark of creation. The stardust if you will that created us all; my spirit or our spirit. Not just in general but the feminist/Pagan spirit and the Spirit that connects us all together.

I do realize that this is a Wiccan Sabbat. Just to be clear, I am not Wiccan. I am a Witch. I make things my own. I take whatever I feel that is awesome and I mold it into my practice. I like to think that my practice is more sweet, spontaneous, and ecstatic than logical and orderly and so forth. However, I do like to have my house in order that is an exception.

So the Litha is from Wicca, (the original Neopagan religion) but I can create a Holy Day that isn’t so bent on heterosexism (Wicca is a fertility religion.) How, I am not really sure. In short this Sabbat (and when I say Sabbat I mean in Wiccan terms) the Goddess (as Queen) reins supreme.
I am not sure if I reject this idea or accept it. I usually don’t celebrate the Sabbats because it incorporates the generic God and Goddess which I reject and it’s bent on fertility were as I am more fluid and my practice is based on the concept of sex. So today I think I am going to just enjoy the sun. It is the longest day of the year. I am going to meditate on today’s symbolism such as (well) growth, celebration, the spirit, the flame; maybe even use the flame to light my butt on fire so I can be more motivated to actually complete a project.

Enjoy the day!
