Some Ranting on The Hero’s Tale movies

I am just sick to the teeth watching women in heroic tale movies. I just saw Clash of the Titans and practically every woman is beyond beautiful it’s almost annoying! It’s bad enough that women in ads sell the products by showing off some airbrushed skin and their sexuality.

In movies I want to see that strong, muscular heroine who will to take charge and fight. I am so sick of dainty damsels in distress.



What was worse was a woman, named Io, who was damned to be young forever. Yep, yet another woman character who only has power through her beauty. Of course, she eventually became the hero’s wife or girlfriend. I really hate the side character BS that women get to play in these movies. What the f**k?


*sigh*

Enter the Hercules the cartoon created by none other Disney. Yuck. Megara is nothing but a damsel in distress. The movie makes that very clear. Not to mentions she is inhumanly skinny. I am surprised she didn't die of malnutrition in the movie.

It’s not just the Greek mythology movie spin offs it’s also in movies that gear its audience towards young girls. There is always a female protagonist who is just not complete without a male hero. It’s sickening. What are young girls learning from these movies? A: That they need a man to feel complete. Urgh. I can’t even believe the beauty standards that Disney perpetrates with their movies either. Urgh okay maybe this graphic will help you out:





And its’ not just the women characters in Disney movies that fail it’s the men, too.



What are we teaching our sons and daughters to be? What about adult viewers seeing women as just an extra or just a wife or just a martyr or just a sex symbol? What does that say about our society and culture? What does that say about people who watch this? What does this say about people who do movies like this? Are women feeling out of the loop? I am and I can't wait for the day when I can watch a strong woman be a heroine. I want to see women wielding something other than beauty and sexuality in movies and shows. I don’t want both sexuality and power like how the show Charmed portrays their heroines. To just assume that strong women have to be sexy and be fabulous designer dresser is just ridiculous. I don’t want to see women valued by their sexuality, beauty and skin visibility in movies and shows ever. Its sickening and it needs to stop.
