When I heard about the new Health Care reform I was over-joyed. My celebration was cut short from learning that President Obama signed an executive order to expand the Hyde Amendment. This Amendment doesn't give federal funds to pay for abortion. Obama signed an agreement that is going to keep those age-old restrictions on the use of federal funds for abortion. Women who want abortions aren't the only ones, undocumented immigrants don't get health care, either. I think its the basic human right for everyone to get coverage, don't you?
Abortion is health-care. Women and undocumented immigrants need health care just like anybody else. Apparently, Obama wants to conform to ths status quo via no funding for abortions.
I am happy that I can finally get Health Insurance, (I actually never had insurance), but what about women who want or need abortions?

Im pumped about the Health Insurence! My family is from the US (florida) and while I am Canadian and have it, I have heard horror stories about people that have had unfortunate accidents with no coverage.
ReplyDeleteIm not realy sure what to think about abortions though... I am pro choice, but wouldnt do it myself... I guess I wont know what to think until I am in the situation I guess...
I think that women who become pregnant from rape and such should be funded... but how do ya sort out the people who really have been assaulted and those that wake up preggers and scream rape... you know?
Also if the pregnancy is endangering the life of the mother, then im also in favor..
so.. all in all... im on the fence... I just have no idea!
I am the same way. I am pro-choice, but I am not sure if I would ever. I am pretty good at not getting pregnant. Yeah, some women do that, wake up one morning pregnant, but there are some women who have been drugged at a party and wake up in the morning not remembering anything. I just think some might not have control while having sex with a man. And then poof, shes in trouble and the guy runs off. Just saying. I knew a girl who was an eighth grader who got pregnant by a (stupid) boyfriend. He ran off and she was forced to take care of the baby herself. I understand the whole pro-life thing, but I wouldn't want a baby growing up in an environment not suitable for it. I personally think that most women wouldn't abuse the right to abort (example: go to the abortion clinic everytime they are pregnamt.) Abortion is expensive!!! But thats my personal opinion.
