This is a quick post is what my path is about, what it means to me and my different Pagan interests. I started practicing Witchcraft when I was thirteen years old. As a solitary eclectic I take from different realms of Pagan thought and I piece together a working practice and path. What it means to be an eclectic is that I don't belong in one tradition nor have I been initiated into one. I create my own path. I revere different Goddesses and Gods, as well as the God and Goddess. I have a set of morals. I don't cast a spell in anger, I don't do spells for others, and I listen to Divinity. Witch. It’s a powerful word. Witchcraft is a meaningful magical practice involving the conscious use of spells, rituals, divination, and meditation in order to achieve a specific goal. It can be non-religious or it can be religious. I am more spiritual than religious. Ever since I can remember I was fascinated with spells. I really enjoy the Reclaiming, Dianic and Feri traditions (I am an Eclectic Feminist Witch). I use them as a foundation to my practice. I place to grow from, if you will. I am a long lover of feminism being connected to Pagan thought. I am also becoming interesting in Kitchen witchery and Hearth magic. I am now forming a practice that has something to do with the home. I love rainbows. I clous-skry or read I see different symbols and shapes in the sky. It’s my own type of divination. Ravens hold a powerful meaning to me. Dragons are an important symbol to me, too. I don't use a wand, or a chalice. I use a cauldron and an athame. I use a lot of candles and incense. I love using spells as a spiritual transformation. My rituals are always different depending on my mood.
I am an out Witch, I wear a pentacle and if anybody asks I tell them the truth (I never lie about my spirituality). When I started working at the USM Bookstore, I was asked if I was Wiccan multiple times. I told them the truth. One person asked me if I was a White witch, I was taken aback because terms like White witch or Black witch aren't used anymore. Personally I believe the terms to be racist and I hate hearing or reading them anywhere. I read so many online articles supposedly saying the right definition of Witchcraft. Blah, blah, Wicca is Witchcraft. Witchcraft is a magical practice involving the conscious use of spells, divination, and rituals in order to achieve a certain goal. Can be religious or non-religious, most of the time Witchcraft is seen as a religious practice. There are Christian witches, Jewish witches and many more. But most of the time Witchcraft is under the umbrella of Paganism (most people would argue against Christian Witchcraft or Jewish Witchcraft). But let’s not forget that there are Secular forms of Witchcraft, too.
What I am trying to get at is, I am not Wiccan don't I carry most of the practices within the Wiccan confines and nor do most Witches. I don't have a wand! Nor do I hold the belief of harm none, or the threefold law. I have always loved the word Witch! I don't know why. I love just blazing my own path towards magic and Divinity. I have always been a lover of just magic and practicing. Please don't think that all Witches are Wiccan, because some aren't. As an Eclectic Witch I am not forced to follow any set path, just my own.
you know...if there were more people in the world with your confidence and desire to follow your own path instead of conforming to the ideals of others, the world would be a much more peaceful and unique place. While I wouldnt call myself a witch, I do agree that the term Eclectic Pagan fits quite well! I dont really do spells or rituals, but I do meditate...communing I call it lol! I dont really use anything like wands or chalices either...just things I find in nature that 'speak' to me I guess...
